Submission Guidelines

We're always looking for talented storytellers and artists to join the ArdCraft family. Here's how to share your work with us.

For Authors

ArdCraft publishes children's picture books and early readers with a focus on imaginative storytelling, warmth, and a touch of the unexpected.

What We're Looking For

  • Picture books for ages 3–8
  • Early readers for ages 5–9
  • Stories with heart, humor, and original characters
  • Manuscripts that leave room for illustration to shine

How to Submit

  • Complete manuscript as a PDF or Word document
  • A brief author bio (2–3 sentences)
  • Any relevant publication history (optional)
  • A short note about what inspired the story

Formatting

  • Standard manuscript format (12pt, double-spaced)
  • Picture books: under 1,000 words
  • Early readers: under 5,000 words
  • Include page break suggestions if applicable

For Illustrators

Illustration is the heart of a children's book. We're looking for artists whose work brings stories to life with character, warmth, and a distinctive style.

Art Styles We Love

  • Warm, textured, handcrafted aesthetics
  • Watercolor, gouache, or mixed-media styles
  • Expressive characters with personality
  • Rich, atmospheric environments

What to Send

  • Portfolio link or PDF (10–15 pieces)
  • At least 2–3 pieces featuring characters
  • A brief artist bio (2–3 sentences)
  • Your preferred medium and turnaround

Bonus Points

  • Sequential art / spreads showing storytelling ability
  • Animal character illustrations
  • Food or kitchen-themed artwork
  • Experience with children's publishing
